Project Summary

Luminous Cosmetics wanted to create a memorable unboxing experience where each customer received uniquely patterned packaging while maintaining strong brand recognition. Traditional approaches would have required designing each variation individually—an unsustainable approach for their production model. I developed a generative design system that algorithmically created packaging patterns based on product ingredients, customer preferences, and seasonal influences. The system operated within strict brand parameters (color palette, pattern density, logo placement) while producing endless variations.

Implementation included both the design framework and production integration, allowing direct-to-printer workflows without additional design intervention. The approach resulted in 120+ unique packaging designs in the first production run, a 78% increase in user-generated social content showing unboxing experiences, and recognition at two packaging design awards.
